Twitter financial projections

2009 July 16
by Tim

I’m sure everyone is getting a little sick of my Twitter commentary, but this is just too crazy not to post… recent “hacks” on Twitter have revealed some internal projections of users and revenue!

The term “hack” is used very loosely here. It seems the stolen docs were stored online using Google Docs, and breached using Google’s password recovery mechanism.

Apparently Twitter’s database password was “password”, so it doesn’t sound like these guys are too concerned about security.

On to the juicy stuff:

Among the documents was an internal financial forecast that Twitter would increase revenues from zero during the first two quarters of this year to $140 million by the end of 2010. By 2013, Twitter projected it would have 1 billion users and make $1.54 billion.

Thanks Techcrunch, you’ve made my day. 1 Billion users!!!
